Antrel, a native of Homestead, Florida, was selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the first round (8th overall) in the 2005 NFL draft. He was the first cornerback taken in the first round by the Cardinals since Tom Knight, in 1997. Rolle has been the strong cornerback the Cardinals coveted, and he led the team with five interceptions in 2007 and returned an NFL-high three for touchdowns. He looks to continue his rise for the Cardinals in 2008 and will spend the majority of his time on the field at free safety. Rolle began to display his skills on the football field for South Dade High School in Homestead, where he played both sides of the ball for the Buccaneers. As a junior, he returned six kicks (three punts, three kickoffs) for touchdowns, and also added 85 tackles, three interceptions and five broken up passes. Antrel's senior season was filled with many accolades, including being named the second-best prospect in the state of Florida, a Parade All-American choice, a mention on the Dallas Morning News National Top 100 list, and also being named to the All-Gridiron Team by the Sunshine Network for 2000. On the field, Rolle continued to put up strong numbers. He finished his senior campaign with 86 tackles and three interceptions; running one back for a touchdown. On the offensive side of the ball, he had four catches for 160 yards with one touchdown. He graduated with a 3.8 GPA from South Dade, and decided to stay in Florida for college. The rewards kept piling up for Rolle as he played cornerback all four years for the University of Miami. He was an All-American choice his senior season by the NFL Draft Report, Associated Press, Walter Camp, American Football Coaches Association, Football Writers Association, Sports Illustrated and The Sporting News. Antrel was also a first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection, and was third in voting for the ACC Defensive Player of the Year award. In four seasons at Miami, he was credited with 183 tackles, five interceptions and also doubled as a return man, returning 13 punts in 2003 for 202 yards and one touchdown. Rolle was a Sports Administration major at Miami.
